A soundtrack for love

12 Aug

French researchers have recently proven that listening to songs of amour make women more open to romance, regardless of their suitor’s appearance.

Their study involved 86 single, straight women who thought they were taste-testing organic biscuits. As each woman sat waiting for her turn, either a love ballad or a nondescript song played in the background. When the woman entered the tasting room, she sampled biscuits with another “participant”, a man who’d been hired based on his looks being deemed ‘average’ (Do you think he was insulted?). After a quick chat, the man asked the woman for her phone number. Fifty-two percent of the women who’d listened to the love ballad gave him their number, as opposed to 28% of the those who’d heard Track B.

So the researchers concluded that listening to love-tunes will make you more open to falling for someone. I can’t help but wonder how crushed the women were when they found out they’d been set up. Hopefully there’s a French equivalent to Love Song Dedications to help them through the pain…
